The new stairs go straight down instead of coming to a platform and turning left. A doorway will be opened at the bottom once the construction is finished in the lower basement. We asked the builders to wait on that until the dust level isn't so intense, because we can shut the door right now and keep out some (OK, not much, but it makes me feel better) dust.
